Submission Preparation Checklist

All submissions must meet the following requirements.

  • Support documents regarding checklists for specific study designs are provided per the authors' guidelines.
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The cover letter indicates that 1) the manuscript contains original research, 2) the work has not been published before, 3) the manuscript is not currently under review by another journal, and 4) all authors have read and agreed to its submission.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author's Guidelines.
  • Abstract not more than 250 words.
  • The title page includes the authors, their affiliations, contact details, and the corresponding author and contact details.
  • The text is 1.5 spaced; uses a 12-point font in Times New Roman; employs italics rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed at the end of the references...
  • An ethical approval number is supplied, or a statement indicating which body approved the study is included in the "Ethical considerations" section where applicable.

Author Guidelines

Types of Evidence-Based and Scientific Research
GPIL is committed to publishing high-quality research to improve meta-literacies and information literacy. We accept basic and applied research of the following types: qualitative, Quantitative, mixed-methods, review studies, Book reviews, and Opinion papers.

Submissions
GPIL allows all authors to submit free-format manuscripts

All submissions can be submitted online or sent to gpil@nwu.ac.za.

The following formatting requirements must be adhered to.

Two separate manuscripts must be submitted:

  1. Full manuscript.
  2. Blinded manuscript (all identifiable information removed).

Formatting Requirements
Word limit                 Original Research: 5000 - 7000 words (excluding the reference list)
                                     Opinion Papers and Book Reviews: 1500 words (excluding the reference list)
                                     Abstract: Maximum of 250 words
                                     Keywords: 3 -7

Article Processing Charges (APC)
The article processing charges with GPIL are free after the final peer review and approval by the editorial board.

The JPIL does not charge article submission fees.

Original Research

This section is open to all authors. Submissions to this section must be based on original research and will be subject to peer review.

Systematic Reviews

This section is open to all authors. All submissions will be subjected to peer review.

Practitioners’ Corner

Discussion or advocacy papers suitable for publication.
